Quick answer
Download KleenMic for Windows, complete installation and Setup, choose your physical microphone in KleenMic, then select the filtered microphone in your calling app.
Before you install
Windows 10/11 · 64-bit; Windows 11 on Arm uses x64 app emulation.
Install and make your first call
- Check your PC. Use 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11. Windows 11 on Arm runs the x64 app through emulation; the bundled audio driver includes an ARM64 component.
- Download and extract. Download the Windows ZIP from the official KleenMic website. Right-click the ZIP, choose Extract All, and open the extracted folder.
- Open the installer. Open KleenMic-1.0-Windows-Setup.exe from the extracted folder. If your browser or Windows shows a warning, read the guidance below before continuing.
- Approve installation. Follow setup. Approve the administrator (UAC) prompt and audio-driver installation when requested. Only approve prompts for this installation.
- Choose your microphone. Open KleenMic and choose your physical microphone on the Microphone page. Allow microphone access if requested. Turn noise cancellation on. Under Audio quality, choose Auto, Quality or Efficient. Studio Voice is a separate optional control with Studio, Natural, Broadcast and Clarity presets.
- Check your voice. Connect headphones, enable Test Mode and speak. Turn Test Mode off before your call.
- Select the filtered input. In Zoom, Teams, Discord or your calling app, choose KleenMic Microphone as the microphone input, or the exact virtual microphone name shown by KleenMic. Windows may include an adapter suffix. Keep your normal headphones or speakers as output.
- Keep it running. The window’s X hides KleenMic to the notification-area tray while processing continues. Click the tray icon to reopen it. Use Quit from the tray menu to exit and stop processing.
If Windows shows a warning
This release uses KleenMic’s self-signed certificate. It does not establish a publicly trusted or independently verified publisher identity. Windows may show an unknown-publisher or unrecognised-app warning. A browser download warning is separate from SmartScreen when opening the extracted installer; ZIP packaging does not remove either warning. Continue only if the file came from the official kleenmic.app website and you trust it. If SmartScreen offers More info and then Run anyway, those options can let you continue. They are not always available. If Windows or an organisation policy blocks installation, ask your administrator. Keep Defender and SmartScreen enabled; do not install an untrusted certificate to bypass the warning.
Check the extracted installer
In PowerShell, run Get-FileHash .\KleenMic-1.0-Windows-Setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256 and compare the result with the installer entry in SHA256SUMS.txt. Matching checksums confirm that the packaged bytes match; they are not an independent safety assessment.
If the microphone is missing
Check that your physical microphone is connected and selected in KleenMic. Use the driver recovery action in Setup if the virtual microphone is missing, then reopen your calling app and select the filtered input again. Check microphone permission for both KleenMic and the calling app.
