Quick answer

KleenMic costs $20 once after a three-day trial. SoundVeil offers a seven-day trial and a $99 lifetime option, alongside subscriptions. Try both with the same microphone before deciding on audio quality.

We make KleenMic. Prices and documented features were checked on 19 October 2026. We have not run a controlled head-to-head audio, latency or battery comparison.

ModesAuto, Quality, EfficientHigh quality, Standard, Low power

Mode names describe product choices; they are not comparable quality measurements. An “Efficient” setting in one app is not necessarily equivalent to “Low power” in another.

Choose for the job you need done

Both products are relevant when you want to clean the microphone signal sent to a call. KleenMic also provides echo control and a live Test Mode. Test Mode lets you hear the processed input through headphones without saving a recording.

Do not confuse microphone filtering with cleaning a file after recording or reducing noise from another participant. Write down which of those tasks matters before installing anything. A product can be a good microphone filter and still be the wrong tool for a different audio task.

What the price difference means

The listed lifetime prices differ by $79 before any taxes or promotions. That is a purchase-cost difference, not proof of a better result. If one app saves you repeated setup trouble or preserves your voice better in your room, include that in the decision.

KleenMic’s lifetime license covers one Mac. Its trial requires internet when starting or reopening the app, and an activated license needs a successful online check at least every 30 days for continued processing. Read the current terms before choosing it for long periods without internet.

Understand the setup

A virtual microphone has two selections: the real microphone goes into the filtering app, and the filtered microphone goes into your calling app. Choosing your MacBook microphone directly in the meeting app bypasses the separate filter.

Use our KleenMic setup instructions for that route. If you try another app, follow its own installation instructions and check the actual microphone name it creates.

Make your own listening comparison

  1. Keep the microphone, position and input level unchanged.
  2. Use the same short sentence in a quiet room, then with typing or a fan.
  3. Test one dedicated filter at a time and note the calling app’s extra processing.
  4. Ask a listener which words are easiest to understand. Do not judge only the silence between sentences.
  5. Check the setup again after sleep and reconnecting your headset.

The KleenMic homepage demonstration is one prerecorded before-and-after example. It demonstrates KleenMic on that input; it does not compare SoundVeil or establish a winner.

A reasonable decision rule

Choose KleenMic if its tested result suits you and you want its $20 purchase and feature set. Choose SoundVeil if its result or workflow suits you better. Keep your existing setup if neither improves the problem you actually hear. You do not need a new app simply because it has more settings.

Common questions

Is KleenMic proven to sound better than SoundVeil?

No head-to-head quality claim is made here. This page compares documented features and purchase terms. Listen with your own microphone and calling app.

Can I use either app without changing my meeting app?

A separate virtual microphone still needs to be selected in each calling app. Installing a filter alone does not ensure that a meeting uses it.
