Quick answer
Choose your real microphone in KleenMic, turn on noise removal and select KleenMic Microphone in your calling app. Use headphones for Test Mode, then switch Test Mode off before the call.
Check compatibility and trial access
You need an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later. Intel Macs are not supported. Use the physical microphone you normally speak into, such as the built-in microphone, a headset or a USB microphone.
The trial runs for 72 hours from its first start and needs internet at first launch and each reopen. It does not require an account or card. If you decide to keep KleenMic, the $20 lifetime license covers one Mac. Paid processing can work offline for up to 30 days after a successful license check; reconnecting renews that period.
Install the current release
Download the current KleenMic installer, open it and follow its instructions. Installation may require administrator authorization for the audio components. On a work Mac, use your organisation’s approved installation process.
Open the app and find its menu-bar controls. Grant KleenMic microphone access when requested so it can receive the physical input. If the request was dismissed, check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
Choose your physical input in KleenMic
Select the microphone you actually intend to speak into. Turn on noise removal and start with Auto mode. Keep your microphone at a comfortable, repeatable distance while checking the result.
Quality and Efficient are alternative mode choices. Use the result and responsiveness of your own setup to choose; their names do not guarantee a particular outcome in every room. A mode change is worth keeping only if it helps the call you need to make.
Choose the filtered input in your calling app
In Zoom, Teams, Google Meet or another app that lets you select an audio input, choose KleenMic Microphone. Repeat that selection in each calling app. Installing the app does not force another application to change its microphone.
Use the dedicated guides for Zoom, Teams or Google Meet when you need help finding their controls.
Listen with Test Mode
Put on headphones, enable live Test Mode and speak one short sentence. Repeat while typing, then with the background noise you normally encounter. Test Mode plays the processed microphone through the selected output and does not save a recording.
Listen for complete words as well as reduced noise. Change one setting at a time if speech is clipped. Turn Test Mode off when finished, then use a private meeting to check the final audio another participant receives. That last step includes any processing added by the calling app.
Keep it working between calls
After reconnecting a headset or dock, check the physical source in KleenMic and the selected input in the meeting app. A previously working route is useful only if both apps still select the intended devices.
Keep internet access available for trial launches and periodic paid license checks. Read the terms for transfers and offline access, and use the microphone checklist if sound disappears. For updates, check KleenMic Settings or the release page.
